5 Ways to Style Cropped Trousers

Let me start by saying that these are not your average cropped trousers! Mason’s is the brand, and I discovered them this spring at Sole Amour in Andover, MA…the metallic/camo fabric is super unique and the fit is relaxed yet not too baggy…while they were not at all a bargain, this was my best purchase of the year by far! Aside from them being very comfortable, they can be styled in many different ways which gives you more bang for your buck! 🙂

Here is how I recently styled them for the office, worn with a feminine white blouse, and a cropped black wool blazer…

With a pointed-toe slide, the look is sophisticated but not stuffy – perfect post-pandemic style, which to me means combining conservative pieces with something that is more fun and/or edgy…

Here is a more casual look, styled for a summer business outing…the blue linen blouse nicely picks up the color of the cuffs on the pants…tan shoes and belt add to the relaxed ‘boho’ feel…

Certainly not business here – welcome to ‘date night’! With a simple cropped tank by Free People, no belt was necessary! Sexy shoes, statement earrings, and off we go…(Side note: regardless of how old you are crop tops are best styled with balance in mind; not exposing too much skin, and wearing a looser bottom if the top is fitted…more on that another time…)

Back to ‘boho’! On vacay in California, wore these pants in the evening with a different Free People top, and comfy platform shoes…

Last but not least, a casual daytime look with a simple white tee, sneakers, and a navy cotton blazer – ‘classy casual’! And now that summer is behind us, you will likely see me pairing these trousers with a turtleneck and boots!

The Bottom Line:

  • Instead of spending a lot for something you will only wear once, splurge on a piece that you can enjoy regularly and in different ways.
  • Don’t be afraid to mix a casual item into a business outfit.
  • Metallic pieces are a fun way to elevate your outfits for day or night!

Glad to answer any questions!

Work hard. Play hard. Enjoy every day.
