Black On Black

As far as I’m concerned – and I think Ginger would agree – you just can’t have enough black in your closet….it makes a strong statement, it is flattering on just about everyone, it is versatile, it is edgy….sometimes I have a hard time finding items in the ‘sea of black’ in my drawers, so I periodically go through it all and reorganize so things don’t get forgotten…..look what I found this week! A Banana Republic shirt (bought years ago) that only needed a quick press….put together with a full cotton skirt it looks like a conservative dress, perfect base for the wild tights and leather booties. The delicate black and gold necklace with the Lucky Brand belt added finishing details in a relaxed way.

Another black layer was this wool jacket with leather trim and heavy knit sleeves – toasty warm, yet light enough to leave on in an office setting…..

No need to add a ‘pop of color’ to this outfit – I love the urban feel of just black on black…and also no need for a scarf – while I will surely wear scarves with this jacket, it was a nice change to just enjoy the clean lines of the collar and asymmetrical zipper….

Just because you have one black skirt, or one black sweater – don’t stop there – there are so many different styles that can mixed and matched to create different looks – for work or for weekends! Do you have a ‘sea of black’?? Maybe you will find something at the bottom of your closet…..:-)
