Bring On The Brown

fullsizeoutput_10b3 While we may be drawn to wearing certain colors in specific seasons, any color can be worn year round. It is more about the fabric, what looks best on you, and what you like. Regardless of the time of year, I love black, white, camel, navy…occasionally will wear a bright color or a pastel, generally when mixed with a neutral.  On this particular day I was in the mood for a break from my navy/white or black/camel combos.  How about dark chocolate brown for a change?  No need to wait for the fall!fullsizeoutput_10b9The top is by Wolford in a fabulously soft viscose fabric.  A perfect basic for any wardrobe. The leopard skirt has been in my closet for a good ten years, worn many different ways in all four seasons. Super versatile! Have worn it with black boots, nude pumps, red pumps, brown booties, and gold high heels – this time I opted for orange suede…fullsizeoutput_10a0

Aren’t they adorable? They are Ann Taylor shoes, were under $100! A perfect heel height for work and a color that nicely complements a tan. You don’t always need a high end designer shoe to look high end yourself. 😉fullsizeoutput_10b7 Now to the real bargain here – this luxurious Chan Luu silk and cashmere scarf I found at Revolve in Belmont Center…it’s a subtle plaid which makes it more interesting than a solid. Wearing it with a simple knot in front, instead of a jacket, gives the outfit a lighter and more relaxed look, good for a summer day…fullsizeoutput_10bb A shiny caramel tote (Sorial brand) maintained the relaxed look and added another texture…fullsizeoutput_10ab

  • I love browns especially paired with white in the warmer months. However, brown is almost impossible to find – even in the fall when autumn colors are expected to hit the stores. The predominance of black (especially in NYC) has taken over for many years. The only browns that don’t work for my coloring are those with a golden base. Lovely outfit.

    • Like the colors gold, orange, and a few others, brown comes around every few years, then disappears from the stores. So when you see it, grab it because it won’t be there next season!

  • I love brown but only have a few pieces of brown for the warmer months. I have brown linen pants, a lovely brown and white toile cotton button-down shirt, and a long, brown, cottton dress. I admit that I mostly wear these items in September and October when it’s still in the 80’s where I live. Your outfit is beautiful.
