Next time you are itching for updated beachwear on vacation, you may have pieces in your closet that you can REPURPOSE! Aside from saving money, this makes your look totally unique, and what’s better than that?! On our recent visit to Key West, Florida, I wore the following three pieces in unexpected ways….
1 – This colorful cover-up is an oversized scarf that I have had for MANY years…I often wore it with a denim jacket, whether to or from vacay, or around town in the summer months…here I tied it around my neck and, voila, it’s a brand-new cover-up! Later the same day, I folded it in half and wore it as a halter top with white shorts – super easy! Plenty of Youtube tutorials on various ways to do this, but I just did a simple twist and tied behind my neck…
2 – Here is a DRESS from Zara, this year’s purchase…
The bold print caught my eye and I liked the sheer, flowy fabric that had a slip dress underneath…yet when I tried it on at home it seemed to overwhelm my small frame…not ready to give it up, I ditched the slip dress and opted to wear it over a bikini – perfect! It’s a dramatic, boho coverup at the fraction of what you would pay for high-end resort wear…OR – maybe it will also work as elegant at-home loungewear belted over leggings during the holiday season…:-)
3 – Last but not least, a bathing suit top worn as a crop top for evening wear! This top is faux leather, brand is SHAN…paired with a faux leather skirt by JCrew, it’s resort wear wow that you won’t see on anyone else…the green accessories here added a fun pop of color – go green, go gold, go white – the possibilities are endless and changing it up is another way to get more bang for your buck! 😉
Repurposing pieces in your closet is a fun way to create your own standout style and not look like everyone else…it’s also a way to extend the life of something that you have loved for years but not ready to let it go…
Did this spark any ideas for you? Would love to hear! 🙂
