Knock Your Socks Off

As you might have gathered from the title of this post, the exciting detail of this outfit is the socks…ribbed knit over-the-knee socks by Free People…so adorable on all the young gals on Pinterest – oh, yeah, young gals. Maybe my skin is too wrinkly, maybe my thighs will bulge over the top, maybe they will look awful. Well, what’s the harm of trying them out – nothing to lose, right?

I LOVE THEM!

They are warm and comfortable and can be worn in many different ways…here they are in a WFH outfit…

Perfectly presentable for any Zoom meeting where all anyone sees is what you are wearing on TOP. 😉

On top here is a classic bow-tie blouse is by Anne Fontaine – certainly pricey but this is the type of basic that I call a ‘sensible splurge’: you can wear it for YEARS and it goes with absolutely everything!

The skirt: a navy wool blend by Veronica Beard…the boots, many years old, by Stuart Weitzman…

And finally, to add a bit edginess, a faux leather jacket that I found last year in Nashville…this piece was NOT a splurge, it was a steal at only $50! Mixing edgy (jacket) with sweet (blouse) and sexy (skirt), results in a unique casual look…if the socks/skirt combo is not for you, switch them out for faded jeans and a mid-heeled bootie…

Sometimes you try something new and it doesn’t work out – this chance I took on socks had me smiling all day and I can’t wait to wear them again…some other options:

  • With a denim skirt and flat boots, weekend wear!
  • With shorts and a chunky bootie – funky fun!
  • With a long skirt and boots – instead of tights – more conservative, no peek of skin, warm for winter!
  • Maybe over tights as an extra layer, with a short skirt or shorts – festive fun!

What do you say ladies? Adorable or disgraceful?

Stay well. Dress well. Enjoy the NOW.
