Naughty Girl
Sometimes a woman doesn’t want to look ‘sweet’. Even if that woman is over 40. Or 50. Or 60. (should I keep on going?) That’s when it’s time to ignore any messages from society – or your mother – about dressing ‘age appropriate’. This is when I ignore what Ginger often preached about ‘dressing your g-damn age’….It’s fun to pull out your inner J-Lo and dress sexy, as long as it is appropriate for the occasion…… Here I was going out to dinner in the city with my husband and another couple…..no need to look conservative, not going out with my children or even my grandson for that matter…..so what the hell, why not?
The cropped cashmere sweater is by Oats, found last fall at Portobello Road in Chestnut Hill (maybe on sale now)……with a black cami underneath, it actually looks perfectly appropriate for work with a plaid or camel skirt….the BCBG skirt is a piece I wore for an ‘all white look’ during the holidays and have also worn to work, styled with a long blazer to cover up some of the fitted backside….;-) The cropped black sweater with a body conscious white skirt create a dramatic look that needed no significant accessorizing….simple jewelry (earrings, no bracelets), soft lipstick, and classic black pumps avoided overkill, avoided a trashy look….

A leopard clutch by DVF was a fun accent… ……as well as these hot pink leather gloves! Well, maybe a touch of sweet is good!
Seriously ladies, YOLO. Wear what makes you feel good, buy pieces that you are excited about. It might not be a cropped sweater or a tight skirt, maybe it’s cowboy boots, leather pants, or a dress with sheer panels…….maybe it’s just sexy new underwear! Find the ‘naughty girl’ in YOU!
