The Versatile Vest

Let me start by saying that vests have not been a regular staple in my wardrobe. With a curvy figure they can be unflattering, especially if loose and unbelted. Well, I decided to give this one a chance because of the silk fabric and slim cut – not to mention that it was more than 50% off!
Worn underneath the vest for a day at the office: a JMcLaughlin print top and Theory white pants, both form fitting which worked well with the vest…
One fun detail that I discovered throughout the day was the flowy nature of the fabric, creating movement and a touch of drama when I walked, outdoors quite a bit! 😉
For shoes, micro-fiber slingbacks by Donald Pliner. The pointed toe and slim heel kept the look feminine and polished for work.
Added a double choker of gold beads that belonged to Ginger, and gold drop earrings by Stephanie Kantis, found at Bloomies.
Quick stop at the mall before I headed home, found a few goodies at Sephora…when I finally did arrive at home the day had become quite warm, I was hot and very much looking forward to putting on shorts – BUT WAIT! The heat gave me an idea – maybe next time I can wear this vest as a top, by itself, by belting it…
Wow, love it! Very comfortable and it creates a whole different look.
Sometimes you try a new style and it doesn’t work out – but to keep your look fresh you need to go out on a limb now and then. Since it’s a risk I like to do it with items on sale or in a consignment shop. Glad I tried this vest and I look forward to wearing it different ways – maybe next time with jeans, a teeshirt, and edgy high heels.
How would you wear it?

The first way you styled the vest looks very office appropriate. But the 2nd look is awesome! Love it!
