Travel Chic

fullsizeoutput_828 Speaking for myself, stylish resort wear is part of the fun of vacation and it all begins with what you wear on the plane.  How to avoid that last minute pressure? Don’t ever decide what to wear that morning – be organized and always plan ahead! For this weekend away to Key Biscayne, Florida, I was determined to leave the New England look behind and went for white on white – coated white jeans and a cotton sweater from Calypso in Chestnut Hill…Statement belt is an oldie, but the shoes are new and aren’t they adorable???  A colleague who summers in the Hamptons (where supposedly they are all the rage) raved about them and I couldn’t order them fast enough! Version 2 They are called J Slides: versatile, chic, and very comfortable – though the first couple of times I wore them the open work on the sides hurt my feet – fortunately they quickly softened up and are now one of my favorite weekend shoes.  Will also be great with shorts, or even a ‘bodycon’ dress or skirt.fullsizeoutput_831Never get on a plane without a cuddly scarf!  Here I chose a soft white linen; the different textures of the scarf, jeans, and sweater give the monochrome look visual interest.fullsizeoutput_847 A thin but cuddly puffer by Ralph Lauren (TJMaxx) is the perfect travel jacket, in blue to add a nautical vibe. Multifunctional, a jacket like this can even be worn in lieu of a sweater at your vacation destination, with shorts or a short skirt – very much a ‘Gorsuch’ look… Final details: ‘Jackie-O’ shades for drama (by Prada) and a cross body handbag for hands free fun.

Off came the scarf with the delightful Florida heat, on went a string of turquoise beads.

After a three hour plane ride, happy to be settled at the bar with a glass of rose! Cheers!

  • I love this outfit and would wear it in a minute (if the sun ever comes out in NYC!) I have just started to wear this type of sneaker/shoe and really like them, if they don’t make my size 9 feet look too massive. Have a great time.

    • Rebecca, I am a shoe size 8 1/2 or 9! They don’t make my feet look massive – in fact, in this particular color they are even flattering with shorts or a skirt because they blend in with your skin tone. Perfect for walking the streets of NYC!
