Before and After

If you read my previous post, KICKING IT UP!, you know that for the past 30 days I have been altering my diet and exercise regime to get in better shape for an upcoming family vacation. Well, the 30 days are up and I am pleased to report positive results!

In terms of weight loss, I lost 3-5 pounds – since your weight varies daily, that’s why it is a range. I have learned no longer to be concerned about the number on the scale – if you like how you look and how your clothes fit, that’s what really counts.

I definitely see a difference in my stomach, and I look more overall toned. My clothes are fitting very loosely, but not enough to need a smaller size. It feels GREAT. Here are the before and after pics, the left side was taken on April 30th, the right side TODAY.

Considering that I was in decent shape to start, I am surprised that the change is so significant…it just goes to show you that you can make improvements – even over 60 – with focused, deliberate effort.

Some final points:

  • Once I decided on a specific diet/exercise plan, I stuck to it 100%. NEVER cheated once.
  • At the gym, I varied my routine daily, and always increased the amount of weights and the resistance on machines. It was not fun.
  • Yasso frozen yogurt pops were a life saver for my sweet tooth at night!
  • While I did miss drinking wine, having one or two vodka drinks was satisfying enough. I will probably cut back on wine moving forward.
  • For me, VANITY helps me to stay on track. I love looking good in clothes more than I love a bowl of ice cream.

Have YOU been trying to lose weight or simply want to get in better shape? YOU CAN DO IT!!! There are NO excuses ladies, it all starts with MAKING UP YOUR MIND. Glad to answer answer questions to help you get on your way! 🙂

  • Wow, you look amazing! Congratulations, Candy! And really puts me to shame, I’m a bit younger than you (51) and don’t have half of your determination, in the last couple of years have started so many healthy kicks / diets / exercise routine that only last for a week or two… But you’ve inspired me to try it one more time – thanks! Also have a beach holiday to look forward to in exactly 6 weeks and it would be lovely to be able to feel good in a bikini again! xoxo

  • Candy, I left a comment on your Instagram post. I’m 64, working at the gym 4-5 days a week. I’ve only been at this for 3 months but I’m determined. You are motivating!! I’m having a hard time with my waist size. My stomach us pretty flat, but sure not where I want to be yet. I want to work on that hourglass. Is love any help and as far as workout and diet both.

    • Hi Joy,
I put my diet and exercise details on the KICKING IT UP post. In terms of abs, sit ups, crunches, leg lifts. Also when I lift weights for upper body, I stand on one leg, making it a core exercise too.
In terms of diet, you have to figure out where you can make cuts. You know what your bad habits are (wine and ice cream for me), so you need to address them head on! Happy to answer any more questions. Good luck! 🙂

  • You look fabulous as always. I love it when I lose enough weight that my clothes hang better.
