Business Festive

As the holiday season is right around the corner, so will be work parties and the big decision of what to wear…..sure, you want to look special and festive, but regardless of your age, you also want to look appropriate for a business occasion…..what’s the message you want to send???? If your goal is to advance your career, the message will be less of “I’m hot” and more of “I am stylish and classy”…….this does not mean you need to wear a suit (although you could), but you should follow a few key rules:
– No cleavage
– No skirt lengths more than about two inches above knee
– No skin tight anything; fitted is ok, but no ‘bandage’ dresses
– No skyscraper platform shoes
– Yes to sparkle ( best to be a part of your outfit, not all sparkle)
– Yes to luxurious fabrics such as satin or silk
– Always yes to classic black cocktail dress
This dress is a good example of what would be business festive….I actually wore it to my wedding rehearsal dinner and to my daughter’s bridal shower, in addition to a recent work event……it is elegant and feminine without being overtly sexy….nude pumps rather than black allow the eye to be drawn to the details of the dress….instead of a jacket or sweater I have worn a sheer black wool wrap, or pictured here, a vintage mink cape I scooped up at Revolve. The metallic clutch is a simple finishing touch.

Last word of advice: start looking now for the holiday parties, don’t wait until the last minute! You also might have something in your closet that just needs an alteration or a new accessory to look great. You can privately email me at candy.costas@yahoo.com if you want to show me a photo of something you are considering…….
