Cape Cod Couture

fullsizeoutput_8c7 White trousers with a navy blazer is a classic look that can easily be dowdy depending on the fit and fabric. It took time and patience to find these pieces, but I believe I hit the jackpot and at terrific bargain prices to boot!fullsizeoutput_8c3 After searching for several months for a simple/sophisticated navy blazer, I found this elegant one by Elie Tahari at Revolve in Belmont Center.  The fabric: a fabulous summer weight wool with a touch of elastane.  The fit: sleeves were too long, and it was a tad big in the waist. You know what comes next: I went directly with my Revolve purchase to Jacques Tailoring and had the two simple alterations. Done.fullsizeoutput_8bf Perfection! Love the simplicity of the style: plain collar, side slits, nothing more.fullsizeoutput_8e1 On to the pants…Pants in general are not easy, white pants even harder, especially for work. Saw these by Theory at TJMaxx, in a size bigger than I normally wear, decided to try them on. OMG, instant sparks of joy!  Perfect fit, amazing fabric (a thick polyester/spandex, scuba suit like), and super comfortable. fullsizeoutput_8b8 They have a wide waistband and no zipper – you just pull them on like leggings! Certainly fitted, but not overly so (smaller size would be). Because the length ends at the ankle, they look great with a variety of high heels – here I chose coral suede mid-heels from Ann Taylor.Version 2
To avoid being too ‘matchy’, a taupe viscose top by Wolford…

fullsizeoutput_8e4 Final details: a fun nautical scarf picked up years ago in a hospital gift shop, and a beige Chanel handbag, a recent Revolve treasure.

I am ready to sail on Peter’s yacht! No. I am ready to have lunch with the ladies at the Chatham Bars Inn!  No. I am ready to head to work in our Osterville office!  Yes.  😉

  • These pieces look amazing and the look would be perfect in any office. I’m going to hunt for the Theory pants–so hard to find white pants that are office-appropriate. Love the coral pumps and the Chanel bag. Thanks for sharing your tips!

  • Candy,
I love the entire outfit. I have white pants in linen (a size too large) and they’re cropped, falling right at my ankle and I wear them with ballet flats. I don’t wear them often, but when I do I love to style them with navy blue. You’re Chanel bag is a treasure.

  • I think you have really given the best tips for having great style here. One is to search patiently for just the right thing you want/need and not settle for a lesser garment Secondly, tailor your garments to fit you perfectly. This outfit looks wonderful on you – by the way, I love the lipstick color which echoes the coral shoes.
