Classic Glam
This outfit that I recently wore to work reminds me of an important Ginger lesson: Wear classic, tailored pieces and you will always look nice……Here I am wearing a classic leopard pencil skirt (by Anthracite, bought years ago on Martha’s Vineyard) with a simple black shirt by Anne Fontaine…..Anne Fontaine is known for their blouses, primarily black and white, beautifully tailored, comfortable and elegant….I have a classic white one that I wear all the time, decided it was time to buy something in black.
The body of the shirt is cotton jersey, while the collar and cuffs are cotton percale….instead of buttons, it comes with black cufflinks that can be changed for different looks….in the traditional AF style, wear a contrasting cami underneath, leave a couple of the buttons undone at top and bottom, and pull it all together with a belt….this fabulous belt was found earlier this year at Revolve in Lexington…
To be comfortable walking around the city all day – yet still look elegant – gold kitten heels by Paul Mayer were perfect……because they are close to skin tone they are flattering and the sparkle adds an extra element of glam!
It was a rainy day forecast, so I remembered another Ginger lesson: Always dress according to the weather….to keep my hands free from handling an umbrella I prefer a raincoat with a hood…this practical jacket by Ciao Milano fits well over a blazer and can be folded up and tucked in a tote bag…..the hood is generous, snaps under the chin, and is detachable….while this jacket has been a lifesaver for me, it lacks any ‘wow’ factor…….Sooooo, the search is on! A raincoat with a hood that has ‘wow’ factor…..stay tuned to see what I can find……:-)
