Dressed To The Nines

026 A few times each year, Peter and I have opportunities to attend formal/black tie events….on this particular occasion, it was to attend a charity event for the LGBT community, sponsored by Fenway Health….this community is near and dear to my heart because of multiple personal connections, and even more because of my regular interactions with transgender men and women as they engage our company’s assistance (Privatus, private nursing care) after having surgery….the challenges they face and the courage they must have in order to live their lives true to themselves is enormous.  I wholeheartedly support whatever we can do to make their transition and their lives easier…..So – with that said, what did we wear???012 My handsome hubby wore a classic Ralph Lauren tuxedo, purchased in 2011 for our wedding…..015 To add an element of fun, a polka dot bow tie, which, by the way, is not a clip on….he ties it perfectly after watching tutorials on Youtube!008 As for me, I chose this elegant Vera Wang (found a few years ago at Revolve) – I am almost embarrassed to post these pics because I have worn this dress so many times – but nobody here had seen it! 021It’s great when a dress is as interesting from the back as the front…..love the bow details! 010 For my element of fun, I carried a leopard DVF clutch…Shoes needed to work on the dance floor, so these comfortable sandals by Stuart Weitzman fit the bill…….030 At the event, with James Ashton, our LGBT Consultant, and Kate Prendergast, our Boston Sales Manager….037 Peter and a new friend comparing socks!!! It’s fun to wear a patterned or even colorful socks with a tux!032 It was a fun-filled night with over 1200 people, that included our Attorney General, Maura Healey, a hilarious comedienne, and a great dance band, ‘Splash’….we also enjoyed chatting and posing with the ‘Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence’ – an organization that uses men in drag to call attention to sexual intolerance and issues of gender/morality….
A wonderful evening, a worthwhile event. 🙂
