Eye Of The Tiger

Animal prints are everywhere, right?  If you like them you are certainly in luck.  I certainly do, but if I keep adding them to my closet it will soon start to look like an African safari!  Truth be told, I have not purchased one animal print item since the 2018 trend began…not one!  (Yet.)  It’s all stuff I have had – some for  years, starting with this sweater…

It’s a merino wool cardigan by Milly, found a while back at Revolve. The fine fabric and sparkly jet buttons make it suitable to dress up for work or evening wear, but here I went for a bold look on a Sunday afternoon…less predictable than a more casual sweater, yet still comfortable enough for running errands and spending time with the grandkids…

A simple white shirt would look great underneath, or a red bodysuit; but why not go a little daring on the weekend? A Wolford black lace top was a fun change of pace!

Later in the day, heading out to dinner with the family, a luxurious cranberry scarf adds cuddliness, color, and a bit of coverage. 😉

Then I ‘shopped my closet’ for outwear and dug up this hand-me-down vintage lamb jacket with mink collar and cuffs…although it’s quite beat up it added another texture and was a fun balance to the ripped jeans. And you can’t help but notice these fab red leather gloves!  The brand is Sermoneta – they used to be on Newbury Street in Boston, but are no longer there…you can easily order online if you know your size.  (I’m a 7-7.5, which is in the medium range)   A beautiful leather glove elevates your whole outerwear look – once you have one pair of these, you will be addicted!

The bottom line:

  • Animal prints are here to stay!
  • Experiment with different ways to mix leopard/zebra with your everyday pieces.
  • Red, cranberry, hot pink, black, and white are my fave colors to pair with the animals!
  • Leather gloves are as important accessories as scarves – are you stocked up?

  • I’m not fond of the leopard and black lace combo, I like it better with the cranberry scarf.

  • I adore leopard print. I have many pairs of leopard print shoes, scarves, and a dyed mink jacket. I do have a couple of sweaters as well. It is a timeless print . Love your version.
