Fatal Attraction

For the second time in Ginger-Bred history, I present to you – the Wolford Fatal Dress in sapphire blue! I actually posted this same outfit when I wore it two years ago, but since I’m now over 60 – a second showing to demonstrate that you really can wear overtly sexy pieces at any age…

This versatile piece is just a long tube of stretchy nylon that you can adjust to wear at at any length you choose, or even wear it as a skirt…I like to fold over the fabric on the top to give it a bit more coverage and I also twist it to make a more flattering neckline…

True or False:

This dress is only for gals that are in perfect shape. FALSE! While it is a tight fitting dress, it actually acts a bit like a girdle; on an hour glass figure with extra pounds it could be very flattering. Pregnant women can also easily wear this dress, with or without a layering piece on top.

Selecting underwear is a challenge.  TRUE! The fabric is fairly thin and super clingy. Whether you choose shape wear (like Spanx) or regular undies, they should be invisible. My preference is a smooth nude thong by Cosabella with adhesive breast petals instead of a strapless bra (more comfortable).

You can wear this anywhere. FALSE! However you wear it, in whatever color you choose, this is a dress that leaves little to the imagination. I wore it out to dinner in the city with hubby. I would not wear it to a wedding, or to a work party. That said, if you wear it as a ruched skirt with a silk blouse, that’s a different story.

Back to the night out with hubby…a silk/cotton wrap by Echo adds a bit of discreet elegance…the possibilities really are endless for what you could layer on top – a thin ‘duster’ coat, or even an unstructured long blazer…choose something long and loose to balance the tight dress…

Instead of wearing any necklaces I went for a bare neck with dramatic earrings by Jennifer Miller. Sometimes less is more. 😉

The color combo of coral and navy are great in the summer – which is why I could not resist an excuse to wear these fun shoes again, and why I went for a bright coral lip: this is MAC CB96AA7 layered over CORAL VIF by Laura Mercier.

A silly selfie to end the evening!

One last note: I bought this Wolford dress a few years ago at their end of year sale – it was either 50 or 75% off. (Regular price $215) They do have decent sales twice a year, and that might be the time to give this piece a try. Last time I checked the RED one was on sale. 😉

Happy Friday!!!
