Why the heck would I be doing a post on fur coats when winter is finally over?? Because I just picked up my mother’s mink from being restyled, it came out great and I want to share this hidden gem of a business with you! For the past few years I have worn my mother’s mink – beautiful fur, very warm – but it was not a perfect fit and it had a “barely there” mandarin collar which drove me crazy – if it’s cold enough to wear a fur, I want to have a decent collar to warm my neck……at the recommendation of a local friend, I went to Forever Furs/Forever FurCare in Framingham, MA….expecting a large, fancy showroom with multiple salespeople, it was nothing like that at all…..instead, a small, informal workplace with one woman that runs the show – Judy, pictured above. She helped me figure out exactly what I wanted and had me back for two fittings to be sure it was exactly right.

These are the changes I made:
– Slim and lengthen the sleeves
– Remove the bulk from shoulders
– Shorten length to mid-calf
– Use the fur taken off the length to add a full collar
– Make an adjustment to the monogram (it said “Ginger”)

For just hundreds of dollars instead of thousands I now have a new fur coat that I love – that also has sentimental value….
