Happy Birthday To Me

Yes, my big birthday has long since passed, but the memories of Aspen live on, and are quickly rekindled when I wear a piece purchased on vacation. I found this fabulous wool leopard blazer (on my b-day!) in a shop called Bandana – when I tried it on it was an immediate ‘wow’.  Not just because of the cool pattern, but because of the fit, the tailoring, the fabric, the feel

Wore it for the first time out to dinner with hubby, paired with Wolford faux leather leggings. It creates a sophisticated sexy look without showing too much skin – perfect for the over 50/60 set, but great for ANY age! The lining is a wild feline pattern, which is a fun detail whether or not others see it.  😉 Worn underneath is a silk satin top found on sale at one of my favorite shops, Portobello Road.   It is lingerie ‘inspired’, but honestly looks and feels like real lingerie. Best worn as a layer and not by itself…I like the wide band of lace on the bottom which nicely peeks out beneath the jacket. For accessories I went for maximum sparkle to balance the edginess – a pewter leather wristlet by Eileen Fisher, and a bold bling bracelet I have had for years… Decided against a ‘pop of color’ scarf to keep the focus on the jacket…a simple black scarf with touch of fringe was perfect for the chilly night… While the way I wore the jacket on this night says ‘ready for fun’, what makes it a good investment is that worn differently it can also say ‘ready for business’. Looking forward to wearing it different ways…
