His and Hers Statement Jackets

What is a “statement jacket”? It’s a jacket that makes a statement whether you are wearing it dressed formally or with jeans…it’s not your everyday denim or leather jacket and it’s not your average blazer…

On a recent date night of no special occasion and by sheer coincidence, Peter and I both decided to wear ‘statement jackets’! Maybe it was a reflection of life finally getting to be more fun again, who knows! Starting with hubby, here’s the scoop…

Starting with Peter, he wore this fabulous double breasted navy blazer by Cremieux, discovered a few years back in their Palm Beach shop…though he has worn this jacket before, it was usually for a more dressed up occasion…he wanted to style it more casually, so what did he do? Ask me???? No he did not. He ‘Googled’ it! Hahaha…

Evidently what he learned online was to pair the super fine blazer with a simple white shirt and distressed jeans…of course he already had both in his closet – the shirt by John Varvatos, the jeans by Ralph Lauren…when I saw it all put together on him I was literally speechless. 🙂 The look was distinguished yet relaxed, a perfect example of men’s upscale casual.

Now switching gears to me…one day a few weeks ago when poking in Sole Amour in Winchester I came upon this Yigal Azrouël jacket that knocked my socks off! Nothing that I was looking for by any means, but it was a WOW! I knew that it would blend so easily into my wardrobe, both for work as well as play…it would be a timeless piece that I could wear over and over again, in a variety of ways…translation: a good investment piece. 😉

It’s a cropped lambskin moto jacket with unique elbow length sleeves, just as fab zipped up as left open…

This first time wearing it I paired it with all white…the sequin cami is by Chan Luu, the flared jeans by Citizens of Humanity and the sky high heels by Shutz…a fun upscale casual look that could take you anywhere!

There will be many other ways to style this jacket – with a black turtleneck and jeans for sure – or, more unexpectedly, with something soft and feminine…stay tuned in the coming months…

The Bottom Line:

  • Don’t save your ‘special’ pieces for special occasionseveryday is special – enjoy them NOW.
  • When you look good, you feel good.
  • The best clothing finds are usually when you aren’t looking for something specific.
  • Always dress up for date night!

Work hard. Play hard. Enjoy every day.
