Leather Weather

‘Sweater weather’ may get all the hype, but this gal rather call it leather weather! Sweater days will come soon enough – when it gets seriously cold – but on these cool days, give me leather! All colors, all styles, real or faux, pants, skirts, or jackets, I love wearing leather in the fall…this jacket is a newer favorite that I’m excited to tell you about, but first, let’s see the outfit underneath…

A couple of new pieces bought recently at The Hive in Winchester…the pleated skirt is a subtle animal print with an asymmetrical hemline, the brand is Santuary, under $100…this loose, feminine style is perfect for 2020 when you don’t need formal business attire but still want to look put together…it will also look great with sweaters and boots…

Here’s a closer look at the print…

The cream top is a great basic by Susana Monaco…nice heavy fabric with a built-in shelf bra…this definitely runs small, so plan to go up a size if you get one…

Earthy colors are not generally good on olive skin tones, but this cream is bright enough and the vibrant scarf offsets the earthy quite nicely! 😉

Ok, let’s get to the LEATHER!

About a year ago, I went to Nashville on my first girls weekend away! My daughter, sister, niece, and I had an epic weekend of fun that of course included shopping…found this jacket in a shop on Broadway that mainly carried cowboy boots…it was love at first sight! Soft, a perfect fit, and at an insanely low price…faux leather – or ‘pleather‘ – but who cares? My sister and I both bought one! 🙂

As you can see with the jacket zipped up, it’s a flattering fitted style…you can wear a shirt or turtleneck underneath, but not a bulky sweater…if you need extra warmth add a hat, gloves, and of course jeans and boots…don’t ruin the look of a fitted jacket by buying it too big…alternatively, when it’s really cold out, you can wear a jacket like this under a winter coat…

Before closing, one peek at another favorite leather jacket, this one many years old by Theory…it is real leather with a pale gold sheen, soft as butter…
The Bottom Line:
- Leather jackets are perfect for fall, whether real or faux.
- Under leather you can wear something lightweight so when you get hot, off it goes! (With a sweata’, you sweat!)
- Leather jackets can be dressed up for business, dressed down for weekend wear.
Stay well. Dress well. Enjoy the NOW.

I love both jackets but I think the one from Theory is my favorite. Just when I think fall has arrived where I live, it’s going to be back up in the 80s this week.
Lucky you! 🙂
