No Baked Potatoes

Isn’t it funny how certain things you read or hear will stick in your mind for years? It was many moons ago, but I remember reading a fashion article where the author said that wearing beige was not flattering, women that wear all beige look like baked potatoes…..hmmm, can you visualize that? Probably an Idaho….Well, I respectfully disagree and so would Ginger, who wore beige often. Beige is elegant and understated, and allows the colors of the woman to be the focus. It looks great with navy, brown, aqua, coral, and my personal favorite combinations, beige/black or beige/white. The dress shown above was a great find at Revolve in Belmont – tags still on it! It is perfect for work, especially on the days when you don’t want to coordinate an outfit – it looks complete on its own. Because I am always cold, a jacket and/or scarf is a must…..a coral DKNY sweater is one option I have worn, here I chose a black cotton jacket…

001 So how to avoid looking like a baked potato? If you are wearing beige, choose a strong lipstick color rather than a neutral/natural lip….if you don’t like bright lipstick, a brown tone looks very pretty with beige…..when choosing your accessories, pick colors that contrast with the beige, nothing too washed out or pastel.

Is beige a color in your closet? What’s your favorite way to wear it?
