Not Your Average Sundress
What do you think of when you hear the word “sundress”? Maybe a loose, shapeless dress with spaghetti straps? Often in citrus or pastel colors? Good for a hot summer day? All sound about right, yet a long shapeless dress can also can be dated and frumpy – a dress hitting just above the knee is a much more flattering choice.
This bold print dress I found a fews years back at Nordstrom’s, in the casual wear department mostly geared to the younger set. (Yeah, with the bad dressing room lighting!) If I remember correctly it was only $79. For shoes, a neutral suede sandal (Gianvuti Rossi) with a cork block heel to give just enough height while still being comfy for walking through the city or dancing the night away…
The hem is intentionally shorter in the front, longer in the back; I also had it shortened a bit so it did not fall below the knee in front. (Length can make or break your look ladies!)
The dress could definitely be worn unbelted, but with my body type I prefer it belted…this braided leather belt is by Lucky Jeans; added gold hoops and a mix of bracelets that tied in perfectly with the southwestern style.
Pretty bow detail at the back of the neck…
Final details: Kate Spade specs (TJMaxx), an American Eagle denim jacket, and an old Il Bisonte cross body bag that I have had for over fifteen years (love the weathered, vintage look)…Ready to hit the road to dance the night away??? Not this time!
Ready for a fun night with the family in Boston’s North End! ;-)
