Off the Beach

When you are just returning to work from a few days at the beach, the last thing you want to wear is business attire, but still it’s important to look serious and professional. This outfit seemed to be the perfect balance…

A sheath dress in sky blue was an easy choice, but what about shoes?  A classic nude patent pump would be a nice choice for work but I just wasn’t in the mood.  These suede wedges felt more relaxed yet still covered up most of my foot – perfect!    The dress is by DVF in a beautiful wool blend, found a couple of years ago at Revolve. Not too tight, not too short – a great work dress.

What isn’t instantly apparent is the fun appeal of this lightweight scarf – check out all the harbor towns and islands!   More than once I have taken this off my neck to show someone how cool it is…found it last year at a gift shop in Chatham, MA…in addition to the island names, I like the pop of coral and navy on the pale mint background…it also looks pretty with a denim jacket.

No denim jacket to work though!  This Theory blazer is simple and adds the right amount of professional polish.

My summer ‘no-name’ handbag…

And off to work I go…

Only one more week and it will be September!   I, for one, wish we had another month of summer.  How about you?   Are you glad that fall – and fall clothes – are just around the corner?

  • I’m with you about another month of summer! It was a long, cold, wet spring and it feels like summer flew by.
I do, however, look forward to autumn. Cool, crisp air, autumn outdoor activities, apple picking! Wearing boots with tights, sweaters and leathers-fun and invigorating!

  • I love this entire outfit. But the scarf is special. What a great find! We had an unusually cool week with temperatures in the low 80s. It felt so much like fall! I was ready to bring out the darker shades of linen!! But next week the high every single day, the high will be 90 or above. We still have at least 4 – 6 more weeks of summer. So while you will be enjoying all things fall, we will still be sweating.
