One Day, Two Events

It was one of those Saturdays jammed packed with activities, barely enough time for errands and exercise, but all fun, and offered opportunities for multiple outfits!  The first event was a recital for the students of my son Brad who teaches private music lessons to children…would be held in a chapel, starting at 1pm. “What’s the dress code Brad?”, I ask.   Daughter Hayley quickly responds, “Like church.”  Brad adds, “Just don’t dress sexy.”   Oh.  I get it.  I can do that.  No problem. 😉

Yessiree, I had the perfect dress, a white cotton shirtdress by Prada, recently discovered at Revolve. Beautiful fabric and styling details, suitable for a warm spring day.fullsizeoutput_a85

The dress is elegant on its own, adding a silk Burberry scarf and camel open toe booties kept the look soft and appropriate for the occasion. (It will be fun to wear with edgy shoes/accessories at another time.)

Well, Brad, you like my dress? “Perfect mom!”

The event was an absolute joy, watching children singing and playing instruments under the guidance of my son who is intensely devoted and highly regarded by all. I could not have been more proud.

Fast forward to the evening: it was Peter’s 40th High School Reunion, which was to be held at a local restaurant at 6:30pm…no need to ask about a dress code, it is clear that for reunions you want to look your absolute best – not overly dressed up, but not too casual.  Sexy???  Of course!

The success of this outfit is the balance and mix of different pieces. Sexy/edgy faux leather pants with a casual teeshirt, a conservative blazer, and dressy shoes. The bright white blazer is the key piece that makes the look sophisticated and classy. Found it this year at good ol’ TJMax!  fullsizeoutput_ad0

After the long afternoon with my son, there was not much time to get ready for the evening. Instead of redoing my makeup I glued on false lashes and changed my lip color from coral to nude. Five minutes! Made a big difference. fullsizeoutput_af7

Ready for reunion fun…oh wait, it’s not my reunion – where’s Peter you say?

Stay tuned…
