Repurposed Pants

Back in December of 2017 I was quite excited to find these fabulous wide legged pants by Elie Tahari.  Seen above,  styled with an Anne Fontaine blouse and high heeled sandals, ready for a holiday party!   Elegant, classy, and fun. But after the party season they remained in my closet, week after week, month after month, totally ignored. Well, it’s not everyday that you wear six inch heels, and they were specifically tailored to go with these shoes.  Why shouldn’t I be enjoying these great pants on a regular basis, with a more casual, four inch heel??   My mind made up, off to the tailor I went!

What a great move that was! Worn with an off white silk blouse and edgy lace front shoes by Jeffrey Campbell, it’s a current look that works for business or casual wear.  The photos don’t really show the full appeal of the pants – they are lightweight and have lots of movement, so quite dramatic and fun when you walk!

To keep the look light on a warm day, I wore a Chan Liu cashmere wrap in a soft neutral instead of a jacket. Appropriate for a business casual setting, and a nice change from slim pants.

Here’s another option: a simple black mock turtleneck, a cropped jacket, and statement booties…

Ok – not the most serious business outfit…;-)

It will be fun to experiment with other tops and shoes now that I can wear these pants more often.  Leopard shoes and a simple red tee-shirt, a fitted black top and white booties….the added flexibility also makes the pants a better value.

What do you have in your closet that you would like to wear more?  Maybe a ‘party’ dress?  Repurpose it!  No need to wait for a party invitation – try wearing it with a denim jacket and sneakers on the weekend…it gives the dress a whole new look and it will feel like new.

Glad to offer my suggestions on specific items you have!  Share in comment section…
