Resort Wear for Men

You are planning your spring or summer getaway and will spend a Saturday or two shopping for resort wear for yourself – what about your hubbie? Do you help him or is he left to his own devices? Ooooh, I warn you, that can be dangerous…….Maybe your guy is fashion savvy, that is a possibility – but in my experience, most guys need a bit of guidance and a little bit can go a long way!……Fellas, here are some pitfalls to avoid:
– Don’t be too casual. Yes, it’s vacation, but you aren’t a 21 year old on spring break. Save your Red Sox gear for Fenway Park…When the sun goes down, wear a collared shirt and lose the flip flops. Even during the day a linen shirt with the sleeves rolled up looks so super sexy over shorts or swim trunks.
– Don’t wear your clothes too baggy. A slimmer cut in shorts and pants is much more flattering, more current…they may feel tight at first, but a little Lycra will add instant comfort and they will stretch out as you wear them.
– Avoid being too predictable. No Hawaiian shirts. Look in places beyond large department stores; some shops geared toward the younger generation (Lucky Jeans, True Religion) have some great versatile pieces that are also at reasonable prices.
– Consider tucking in your shirt! The ‘untucked’ look can be cool if the shirt is a slim fit and not too long. If it is boxy and/or long, you will look sloppy….(or chunky).

Ahhh, nothing like a simple black V-neck for instant European sexiness….John Varvatos cotton shirts have great tailoring detail and come in a variety of great colors if black is not for you…..they also can be found discounted at the Nordstrom Rack….Peter’s bracelets are a combination of ones we have found on islands, and a Christmas gift here and there…..

The style of swim trunks changes over the years, so don’t be caught in the baggy athletic shorts that you have had for ten years or more……..think slim fit, and keep the length above your knees…….Bonobos is a great line to check out – either in their Boston shop or online at www.bonobos.com….their patterns are fun and the clothes fit very well……JMcLaughlin also makes great suits for men, shop in Chestnut Hill, Osterville, Chatham, soon to be in Concord……guys, once you discover these you will be hooked and your ladies will be too! 😉

Peter always looks great! I know you offer guidance, but I’ll bet he has a good fashion sense on his own.
