Saddle Up
Between the craziness of holidays and a much needed vacation, I have not started blog posts yet for this year…hope you still enjoy this one from November! 😉
One of the things I learned from watching the ‘Very Ralph’ documentary is that Ralph Lauren is actually ‘anti-fashion’…he is more about things that have longevity, timelessness, and style…things that create a feeling of being in another time and place…classic designs created with luxury materials. This Harris Tweed jacket by Ralph Lauren is a perfect example…

I bought this in a RL outlet store about thirty-five years ago!! I love it just as much now as I did when I was in my twenties! You need not live on a ranch to feel like an equestrian…;-)

The fabric is just beautiful – I like a tweed that has significant color contrast, as opposed to being ‘muddy’ looking…and the tailoring – impeccable! Notice that it is not at all boxy, in fact it is quite fitted, only enough room for a blouse or a thin sweater underneath…that’s part of it’s charm – a classic men’s material in an ultra feminine style.

The double vented back is sleek and flattering to the backside, whether or not you happen to be riding a horse. 😉

The camel pants are new, Joie brand…carried in most fine department stores and small boutiques…brushed cotton, high waisted, skinny leg…very flattering on a petite frame.

The blouse is a classic Anne Fontaine, another timeless piece that will never go out of style…and best of all – it is machine washable! I put it in a lingerie bag, hang to dry, then lightly touch up with a cool iron. Easy breezy!

Stuart Weitzman ‘riding’ boots – not new – perfectly complements the equestrian feel…

And because it was a mild rainy day, one final layer, a Jane Post rain jacket.
Normally this would have been the last pic of the post, but as I was driving to work I was inspired to take just one more…

Sometimes I get so excited over little details – loved the combination of leopard, tweed, and red leather! Now where’s my horse??? 🙂
A belated Happy New Year to all!

So excited to see a new post from you! Love all the pieces of your ensemble and I am also a huge RL fan.
Nice to know someone missed me! 😉
I forgot one more thing – I have (and still wear) a RL skirt my mom bought for me when I was in college 33 years ago. It is still as lovely today as it was when I first received it.
Isn’t that great??? Good ol’ Ralph! 🙂
