Shorts Story

Shopping for vacation clothes is just plain fun! Sure, you know you could pack a suitcase with last years summer’s clothes and be done, but why do that?? For me, half of the fun is the anticipation and the planning, and shopping for ‘resort wear’ can take the chill out of the snowiest February day……so off I go! In one of my favorite shops, Portobello Road, they had the best selection of resort wear I had seen yet…..as I was perusing the long dresses and linen blouses, I was drawn to these adorable navy ruffle shorts…..when I tried them on, even loved them more – BUT – what the heck to wear them with? And am I too old?? I tried various sleeveless tops in the shop, but nothing looked quite right….too tight and I am a ‘hoochie mama”, too loose and I look like a schlump….I had some ideas with tops I had at home, but was wary of the strict return policy….lo and behold, the kind salesperson (Amy) seeing my dilemma, extended the policy so I could try the shorts at home and be sure I would wear them……Oh, yes I will!!!

The secret to success here was simple: if you are baring your legs (shorts or short skirt), be covered up on top – the balance makes all the difference, regardless of your age……Sexy but not slutty….the natural leather wedges elongate the legs and make the outfit current and fun for evening wear….the gold clutch adds just the right amount of glitz.
Here is a second option with a pale gold cami and white shirt I also already had…..add a flat sandal or flip flop, cute for daytime!
So – with conservative tops I had at home I found at least two ways to wear these ‘Mardis Gras’ shorts….Am I too old??? Ginger might think so, but I say NO WAY.
