Perfect fit and length

Look around the workplace on any given day and you will likely see at least half the women wearing pants – a perfectly fine choice, but so often worn without attention to the length or the style of shoe. The wrong choice can not only be unflattering to your figure, but can look sloppy and unprofessional. Let’s start with a shoe question: Are ballet flats a shoe style you like to wear to work on a regular basis? Admittedly not a favorite of mine, I do not find them comfortable, they are too “girly”, and not flattering on us petite gals. If you really must wear them (haha, can’t I change your mind?) your pants should be straight leg style, not a flared leg. The length should hit the top of your ankle bone….Straight leg pants are a very current look and what’s great about them is you can wear them with different styles and heights of shoes – flats, pumps, wedges….I have on straight leg pants below with a two inch wedge shoe – extremely comfortable, feminine, professional.

Now a pants question: Do you prefer to wear pants that have a wider bottom, such as a flare leg? If so, you will need to visit your tailor! Be sure your pants are about one inch from the ground when you are standing up straight in the shoe you will wear with them. You cannot wear these pants with different shoe heights – they must be tailored to a specific shoe – this I learned from Ginger and her treasured tailor……No to ballet flats, but a loafer or other menswear style flat can look “Katherine Hepburn chic”….the ideal shoe will have a two to three inch heel to make your legs look longer…
