Sweet in Pleats

For the past few years I have been on the hunt for a black pleated skirt…..while there have been plenty in the stores, a pleated skirt must fit perfectly around the waist and hips or you end up looking like a blimp, even if you’re not…..JCrew has some that look adorable on the hanger, but looked awful on me- you just have to keep trying different brands…..I finally found this one at Bloomies (yay, on sale!)and as soon as I put it on I knew it was right. Made of fine wool, it has a one inch elastic band waist, so looks best with something on the outside, or belted….will be fun to experiment….On this particular day I chose a cream and black sweater from Revolve….the bow is sophisticated and sweet at the same time, reminds me of the looks of Kate Spade or Valentino….

Ginger was fond of this look and would often wear a pleated skirt with brogues or flat ankle strap shoes…..if you are accustomed to wearing pencil skirts, the shape and movement of the pleats is a nice change and works equally well for business or casual…..here’s a cute look for the younger gals…..

Yes, it will likely take some hunting to find the right pleated skirt for you………I actually saw a few at Revolve in Belmont Center this week – maybe try one out?
