The Bow is Back

In the past several months, those of us in the business world have adjusted our ‘work’ outfits for Zoom calls and/or simply working from home…like it or not, this is likely to continue for the months ahead. Do you find yourself wearing some of the same comfy outfits over and over again? Perhaps one day you might look upon these outfits as your ‘pandemic wardrobe’, and like your long forgotten maternity clothes you can’t wait to be done with them! Haha!

This thought is what inspired me to wear a much loved bow tie blouse that was in the back of my closet all summer…time to bring it back! This is a classic Anne Fontaine with a generous, floppy bow, and best of all – machine washable!

On the bottom, FIFTEEN-TWENTY brand pull on trousers with rhinestone stripes down each leg…wouldn’t they be great for a holiday party with a velvet blazer and red suede pumps? Ha! Well, not this year….Stuart Weitzman slides for a bit of height while still being comfortable…

The vest is by Cotes of London, from The Hive in Winchester – if you follow me on Instagram you have seen this twice already as I am admittedly obsessed! This is no North Face or Under Armour ladies! 😉 The cap sleeves and feminine cut make it a piece that you can wear just as easily with a dress as with jeans…

Wearing the dressier blouse with more casual/fun pieces keeps the outfit from looking stodgy or simply uninteresting…in the weeks and months to come I will continue to experiment with ways to blend my old business separates with more casual separates and shoes…

What are YOU wearing most often these days? Time to bring out something from the back of your closet???

Stay well. Dress well. Enjoy the NOW.

  • As it’s still hitting the 80s here, I’ve been forced to get creative with my work wardrobe. I’m wearing cotton pants and skirts (darker colors) and long sleeve or 3/4 sleeve shirts and blouses. Big meetings are still zoomed but I’m at work every day, with my mask firmly in place.

    • It’s actually kind of fun changing up the wardrobe to a bit less formal/serious. Hopefully a vaccine is not too far away and we can slowly get rid of these masks!
