The End is Near

The end of summer, that is! Hard to believe, but that’s ok, there is joy to every season….here is an outfit that I wore in August – though certain pieces are definitely appropriate for year round wear…starting with this fabulous blazer by Akris, bought at a consignment shop…the synthetic blend fabric, the perfect fit, and the great color make it one of my favorites.  You might remember when I wore it with a black sheath dress, here it is worn a bit more casually  paired with a navy skirt and striped top.

Shoe choice also makes a big difference in the overall look – with these sand suede wedges, more casual than a pump but still work appropriate.

The navy and white striped top is by Last Tango – really more casual than business, but when worn with a blazer and skirt, it works! And let’s talk about the nautical skirt. Such a treasure!  Found awhile back at Revolve, Ralph Lauren’s purple label, which means the higher end line. Why higher end, you ask? Two obvious reasons: impeccable tailoring and gorgeous fabric. The details in the waistband construction make it so comfortable and contribute to a perfect fit. The wool blend fabric feels wonderful and holds it shape. Yes, wool. Yes, August. Year round luxury.

Love the sailor style detailing!

Instead of a more casual tote, I opted to dress up the look with a Chanel handbag and dramatic specs by Prada. Summery, Business Casual, and fun!

While the end of summer is near (officially on September 22), it won’t be the end of wearing this yellow blazer or navy skirt.  That’s the beauty of classic styles in fine fabrics.  That’s the value of treasures found in consignment shopping.  ;-)

Happy Labor Day Weekend!
