Worn traveling to Bermuda – scarf was in my bag!
Whenever I am planning what to pack for vacation, one outfit that always gets attention is what to wear on the plane. While travel can be tiring, it is also the day of peak excitement – finally, work is left behind and off to have fun! Your clothes should reflect that – be comfortable and wear something that makes you feel good, but no so comfortable that you look like you are headed to the gym or ready for a night on the sofa.
– DO wear loose fitting clothes, soft cottons, pants with a bit of spandex; avoid skin tight jeans which are awful to sit in for hours and not good for your circulation (or your female parts!).
– DO wear layers. A tank or light tee shirt, a blazer or cardigan over that, a heavier jacket or vest that you can pack in the outer pocket of your suitcase once in the airport. Another layering option I love are the super thin, bright colored down jackets – much more fashionable than fleece and currently on my wish list.
– DO wear or bring a long, soft scarf – always! It looks chic and keeps you warm on plane or in air conditioning. (Ginger always traveled with her hot pink scarf…)
– DO NOT wear athletic sneakers. (Save them for the gym, pack them if you plan to go running on vacation). Wear comfortable flats, chunky heels, or even a fashion boot. Unless there is snow to trudge through, I usually skip the socks and wear a sandal just because.
Sparrow cotton cardigan, army green cargo pants, zebra straw bag (was Ginger’s)
J Crew jacket, Burberry scarf, J Brand jeggings, Coach sandals
In this Anguilla travel picture, I remember that I packed some black cotton Theory shorts in my carry on, happily changed out of the pants in the ladies room once we hit warm climate…the shoes I wore some evenings so that was a practical choice.
What to wear on the trip back? Same rules apply, with one addition: go for the colors that show off your tan!!
