A Ginger-Bred Goodbye

It is hard to believe that it has been eight years since I started this blog at the encouragement of my daughter…I clearly remember the day that I called her, screaming with excitement after coming up with ‘Ginger-Bred’, named after my late mother, Ginger… back in 2013 I didn’t even know what a blog was, never mind how to execute it, or how to take and upload photos of myself – I certainly have learned a lot!

From professional photographers to selfies and facial recognition cameras, I did it all and learned so much about lighting, posing, and photo-editing…as for the word content of each post, over the years I surprised myself and developed a real love for writing on a variety of topics, but especially when expressing my opinions about style ‘rules’ for the mature woman…

While my passion for style is even stronger than it was eight years ago, I have decided to take a break from blogging for the time being, to free up some precious time and perhaps explore other creative avenues…my obsession with outfits and aging ‘disgracefully’ will still be visible on Instagram, at ginger_bred_style….follow me there for daily inspiration!

The Final Bottom Line:

  • What you wear matters. It is your personal ‘book cover’, telling the world who you are.
  • When the sun goes down, the heels go up.
  • Fit and fabric are key components of dressing well.
  • Life is too short for one outfit per day.
  • It is better to be overdressed than underdressed.
  • Always wear clothes that make you smile.

Thank you all so much for following Ginger-bred over the past several years and for sticking around even through some awful outfits…haha…I hope that you found these posts mostly inspiring and always fun. 🙂

Thank you for taking the time to submit your personal comments and also for your support and encouragement when I saw some of you in person. A break for now need not be forever! Until next time…

Work hard. Play hard. Enjoy every day.

  • Thank you for putting so much time, energy and inspiration into the blog. It’s not an easy job. I appreciated your creativity in putting together stunning outfits, your candid comments and your willingness to put yourself out there, including sometimes taking an unpopular position. You truly are an inspiration for women of any age. I’m not on Instagram but this might make me do it.

  • Hi Candy,
I have been an admirer from the west coast for 6+ years, but I was a fan right from the beginning. I especially valued your posts during the difficult time of Covid, when you were so inspiring, with your great attention to detail and your positive attitudes about life and living well. Thanks for all of it!

  • Hi Candy, reading about your fashion dos and dont’s has been entertaining, educational and downright inspiring. Without the blog, I may have to take my lazy girl attitude and get
my arse into gear and start implementing what I have learned. You were beautiful at your wedding 10 years ago and you are beautiful now. Love your zest for life and your positive attitude.
