On a recent night out in the city, hubbie and I with another couple decided to try ‘Bogie’s Place’, a Boston restaurant named by Boston magazine in 2014 as a “hidden gem…provocative and mysterious atmosphere…jazz tunes…with custom martinis made at tableside”….a sign at the entrance actually says ‘ADULTS ONLY’….intriguing for sure! Visions of various delight were swimming through my head…..fun, fun, fun! Now – what’s a gal to wear? Something sexy of course!
Wolford is the company most known for their amazing tights and legwear….well, they make some other fabulous pieces too….this is their Fatal dress, an opaque tube that can be worn as a dress (long or short) or as a skirt…..here I scrunched the material up around my midsection to create the length I wanted, then turned over one side of the strapless top to give it a more flattering shape…..
The options for shoe style and color are endless with such a basic dress, but I was looking for an excuse to wear these fabulous coral suede heels….they are by Elie Tahari and believe it or not, quite comfortable…. When I bought this dress (50% off after Christmas!) and knew I would someday wear it with these shoes, I started planning ahead for a wrap – something that would not distract from the dress or the color of the shoes…..Wolford did not make a coordinating wrap, my personal collection fell short of the look I wanted, so the search was on……a few weeks into the hunt I found this piece in the accessories department of Bloomingdales, and took the chance that the color would work….perfection! The brand is Echo, it is a rayon/nylon/cashmere blend, under $100….. Showing you here that it is more like a cape than a pashmina, which gives you the option of more coverage when you want it – a good thing when one is wearing a ‘body-conscious’ dress. Baring one arm……. Or covering both…….because the dress itself makes a strong statement and the shoes are a bold accent, I kept jewelry to a minimum and makeup colors soft….all these choices keep the look elegant sexy, not slutty sexy…..
So! You might be wondering how this ‘Adults Only” restaurant experience was???? I can sum it up in one three letter word: BAD. (Actually VERY BAD)…..Heck, we still had fun with our friends and it was certainly an adventure!
