Call Me Practical

Do you have a dress or two in your closet that you bought for a certain occasion, and you never wore it again? Most of us usually prefer to buy something we can wear more than once…….example here, this past spring I wanted a new dress for my daughter’s baby shower, but my mission was to find something that I could later wear to work….something elegant and classy, not a ‘party’ dress, but still a WOW. What I chose was this LKBennett dress, it is a new label from England, a small store now in the Copley Mall. It is dark navy and white, simple sheath style, very fitted….what makes it elegant and not trashy is that the length is just below the knee, and the fabric is quite thick (the dress is actually heavy)…it is a blend of viscoise, nylon, and spandex – flattering and nicely camouflages imperfections…..In above photo, worn with elegant pumps (Bloomingdales), but not for being on my feet all day…..the navy/white pattern is a nice change from black/white – pairs well with a variety of jacket colors (black, navy, mustard) – shoes could be black, nude, or for fun, hot pink!

Here I took the dress to work with different black accessories….the black jacket to add seriousness, the linen scarf for a pop of color, Marchez-Vous shoes deceptively comfortable because of the hidden platform and round toe (found at Cuoio, Boston).

The JKBEnnett style is very much a modern classic look, much like Kate Middleton wears…is this a look you would find practical?
