Classic Camel

Here is a timeless outfit, worn and photographed during the holiday season – in case you were wondering, my Christmas decorations are all put away! 😉

Thinking back to my youth, one fashion lesson that was reinforced year after year was the value of classic styles – a well-tailored navy blazer, watch plaid pants, a camel hair coat.   This is a lesson I fully embrace because with classics you get longevity out of pieces.  You can jazz them up for a sexy or creative look or wear them conservatively to work as seen here.  This wool camel jacket is by Rag and Bone…bought it a few years ago in New York and it gets plenty of wear…the waxed cotton skirt by All Saints is cool because it looks like leather…the crisp white cotton shirt is a ‘practical’ Revolve find.  (Sometimes you find WOW things, sometimes you find great basics!)

Basic classic pieces are perfect for bold accessories – here I chose a brass statement necklace and a wrist of beads for a touch of fun.

Camel, black, and white are a great color combo that welcomes a Burberry plaid – this unique Burberry  scarf was a gift from Peter, purchased a few years back when he was in London on business….it is plaid on one side, leopard over plaid on the other – you can’t go wrong, right? (Truth be told, I wasn’t sure I liked it at first, but now I love it!)

Another classic, as seen last week, this simple belted coat.  A wardrobe ‘must have’ for any working girl!

What is your favorite classic item in your wardrobe?  Or maybe you are hunting for something?

  • I found a camel hair blazer on poshmark about a year ago. It is a three button style, quite fitted, with a notched lapel. I love it so much and have worn it to work and on the weekend with jeans. I’ll keep it forever.
