Feelin’ Groovy

While it wasn’t my intention, this business casual outfit turned out with a ’60s vibe! Maybe it was the white booties, the flashy hip belt, and/or the cropped flares…whatever it was, it worked! Casual yet professional, and definitely sassy – all from wardrobe basics...

Started with very simple basics: black cropped flares and a fitted rayon turtleneck by Majestic…a black turtleneck adds instant chic to anything, so this was a good start…next choice was footwear…just because I hadn’t worn these white booties in awhile, that was good enough reason to choose them…after the booties, it was time to choose a belt…

This belt is clearly not a basic, but it sure is FUN, made of horse hair and Swarovski crystals…about fifteen years ago I found it in a little boutique off the beaten track – on sale for about $50, with an original price tag of $700!

Another great basic: this fabulous Eileen Fisher leather jacket, found last year at Revolve…

The leather is super soft and the cropped fitted style is perfect with skirts or trousers…while you can wear this as an outdoor jacket in the spring, it’s also a great indoor jacket…

A jacket like this gives you a more edgy/casual vibe than a traditional blazer, and it’s way more sophisticated than a cardigan sweater…

Heading outdoors, with another fabulous basic, this soft as butter cashmere coat (Neiman Marcus brand)…

Especially in the spring, it’s great to have outerwear pieces that you can layer…the layering is just as much about creating a stylish look as it is about being practical and warm…and always in the back of my mind is the Ginger lesson, ‘always dress according to the weather’

Didn’t forget mom! 😉

Stay well. Dress well. Enjoy the NOW.
