One Dress, Two Ways

There are times when we all splurge on a dress, perhaps for a special occasion – a wedding, a reunion, a graduation party, etc…..In the case of this dress, there was no special occasion, but I bought it under special circumstances: I was in Mykonos, on my honeymoon (August of 2011), shopping late at night (around 10pm, before dinner!)….this one particular boutique was like an art museum – all white marble walls and flooring with vibrant silk clothes and unique accessories that seemed to be suspended in mid-air….when Peter reached for his camera, he was quickly told no pictures, otherwise I would be sharing them here…..after trying on numerous works of art, I ended up “splurging” on two dresses – one pictured above in raspberry silk – soft and luxurious, drapes beautifully, great to dance in….. This photo was taken a year later, on vacation in Anguilla, and below, at my daughter’s rehearsal dinner later the same year.

Time to retire the dress? No way! It is time to wear the dress more casually, in different ways. Seen below, I dressed it down with brown boots a striped linen scarf, and a faux leather jacket…..the main point here is to get your moneys worth by wearing something pricey different ways and don’t “save it” only for special occasions. As I have said before, EVERYDAY is special. Wear your good stuff.
