Shop Your Closet
What does it mean to “shop your closet”? It means you are a smart woman! You are able to create new outfits with your old stuff, without spending money on new clothes (no wisecracks Peter!)……you can take an item from your closet and wear it in a different way than you have before, making it feel brand new! It might be wearing something you saved for ‘fancy’ occasions and dressing it down for everyday, or dressing up a casual piece……here is a white eyelet jacket that I have enjoyed in the past mostly on vacation, worn occasionally to work with a skirt, but lately, have ignored it – until now! When I was searching my closet for a layer to wear over this white sheath, I wanted to keep the look light – no black, no navy, no leather……my solid white jackets were too similar in texture, not enough contrast……much to my surprise, this one looked great because the fabric offered a pattern of visual interest while keeping it monochromatic ……
Jacket label is Nanette Lepore, found a few years back at French Lessons in Winchester Center…..(go to French Lessons, then hit Revolve right across the street!)…..a thin camel belt (no belt loops needed) and an ivory silk Burberry scarf added elegant accents – and for fun, summery nails in ‘mint candy apple’ by Essie….
The jacket is unique because it is composed of two fabrics – cotton eyelet front, synthetic sheer striped on back…..fun possibilities for over a bare backed top!
Old camel colored sandals felt like new, as did my tan tote, popping against the all white ensemble….if you wear one or two pieces in a different way, it really changes everything….
Kate Spade shades – the final touch before heading out the door……
You probably have some hidden treasures of your own….go shop your closet and try some new combinations with an old dress or neglected blazer…….it’s fun, it’s frugal, it’s free! 😉

I love combining white with cognac and camel, it looks fresh compared to the usual (blah) black & white!
