Side Parts, Skinny Jeans, and Bodysuits
Have you heard that side parts and skinny jeans are OUT? According to ‘they who decide’ (hahaha), both make you look old…and bodysuits??? That’s just ME saying OUT, but we will get to that last…here’s my take on all three…

The Side Part
Here is a woman we all recognize, Julia Roberts, with a side part and a middle part. I actually think she looks better with a side part…it’s a softer, more flattering look than the middle part, even on a beautiful face. But does either style make her look older? Hogwash! Whether you part your hair on the side, in the middle, or not at all, should be what looks best on you – regardless of your age. See below snip from the British Vogue… I agree with Funmi Fetto, 100%!

With that said, I do think experimenting with hair styles is always a good idea, it keeps you looking current…I part my hair somewhat on the side, though I do it unevenly to add volume and hide the gray…I especially like to play with my bangs – sometimes side bangs, sometimes ‘curtain’ bangs, sometimes none at all. And most of the time, I cut them myself! π Moving on…
Skinny Jeans

Skinny jeans are not simply ‘slim fit’, they refer to jeans that mold to the shape of your leg, right down to the ankle…some are skinnier than others, these shown above middle range – they hug my calf yet there’s some room in the ankle…shown here with a sneaker, I think they look pretty good…

Same jeans worn with a pointy toe – I give it a thumbs DOWN. The combination of shapes is just not flattering, a boot cut or a straight leg would be better with this style shoe.

These are skinny jeans that I just wore last week – I did a double cuff and wore them with a ‘substantial’ sneaker…not bad. Skinny jeans still look cute tucked into boots, OR with any shoe that has enough ‘bulk’ to balance the skinniness – otherwise my vote these days is for a straight leg, boot cut, or a cropped flare.
Bodysuits

Here is a pic from a couple years back, wearing a shimmery red bodysuit by Wolford…yes, it’s glamorous, yes, it looks nice, but NO – I have written off all bodysuits forever! Those who love them told me how wonderful they were because of the smooth lines, and no worries about the top coming untucked…well, I really never had either problem with ‘regular’ tops that fit properly…but with bodysuits: ALL DAY LONG you have this ‘sling’ pulling on your crotch – don’t mean to get graphic but it even gets worse…every time you need to use the restroom, you have to unsnap these tiny, strong snaps, then awkwardly re-snap them again! When you drink lots of coffee, this can be quite an inconvenience…the last time I wore a bodysuit I became so frustrated that I didn’t even unsnap – I just pulled the whole damn thing to the side! TMI??? Well, maybe I saved you the trouble…;-)
The Bottom Line:
- Part your hair however it looks best on YOU.
- Skinny jeans never were the most flattering style, you can still wear them if styled carefully. Straight legs or boot cuts are a much easier look for all and more flattering to all body types.
- Bodysuits may look nice, but they are OUT for Candy Costas. π
Work hard. Play hard. Enjoy every day.

You nailed everyone of them! Especially body suits
Thanks for your comment! Bodysuits are so annoying! It took me long enough to figure it out! π
β€οΈit! I hate body suits for the same reason!
Hilarious!!! I thought I was the only one!
Hate body suits and would never wear them. Love your outfit in pic number 3. That is my Friday style at work. Straight leg jeans are my favorite, cuffed or not. I have parted my hair on the side since high school. Through the years my hair styles has changed but not the placement of my part.
