Styling Shorts in Rain or Shine
By the time August rolls around weekend casual becomes even more casual, and during the day shorts are the first thing I pull out to start an outfit – rain or shine. These white denim shorts are old favorites from Lucky, you probably recognize the Ralph belt that was Ginger’s…
Because this was a rainy day, I chose a shoe/sneaker that would not get stained from water – these metallic leather Cole Haan’s did the trick…
The striped top is a long time favorite, Saint James brand, very popular in the sailing and oceanside communities…they come in a variety of fabrics and colors – I prefer the fit and feel of the smooth synthetic microfiber as opposed to the cotton options…notice the signature label on the side of the sleeve…
And how about this scarf? Found years ago at Calypso, it is super soft, vibrant, and huge! Fun to mix the bold print with the striped top…
Another bold addition is this Barbour rain jacket, unlined and very lightweight – perfect for a wet August day…
Ready to head out to do Saturday errands, ready for the rain – yet – it’s New England…
What a difference a day makes – the next day, a scorcher! Heading out to a backyard barbecue, denim shorts (AG brand) and Birkenstocks seemed like a good start…
This white top is by the jeans company, 7 For All Mankind…the fabric is linen so it fits loosely which is nice for a skin baring white top. Found this year at Bloomies; I loved the style/fit so much I also bought it in a blue chambray color which looks great with white. Smart move, right?
The fun Western hat probably came from some vacation spot, but you can always find great hats of all styles at Everything But Water…shades are by Michael Kors, Furla tote found at Revolve…
Casual, comfortable, weather appropriate – without sacrificing style. 😉 Truly Ginger-bred.

I loved both outfits but the striped shirt was my favorite piece. I have so many in several different colors but none from Saint James. I will have to try it out!
Love these both…I always wear short shorts … at 74…. love the styling….
Keeping a youthful style works for me.
Thanks for the inspiration….
