Timeless Tweed

When I pulled this jacket from my closet to wear last week, I could not help but remember that I bought it when I was in my twenties!!! Found at a Ralph Lauren Outlet store in Maine on a summer day shopping with Ginger…loved it then, love it now. As I was taught, when you buy quality pieces in classic styles, they last for years, so they are smart purchases, AKA ‘investment pieces’.Honestly, this jacket looks brand new! The ‘Harris Tweed’ fabric is a timeless, upscale ivy league look, with fitted and feminine styling…the sleeves are very slim, as is the body of the jacket – you could not wear anything with bulk underneath, and thats’s definitely part of it’s appeal…
This rayon top by Wolford is a perfect thin layering piece…soft as butter, machine washable, flattering neckline…
How do you not get sick of an item you have had for 30 years??? Maybe you put it away for a year or two, give it a rest…when you do wear it again, wear it in a different way, try different combinations…with a new chocolate top, the fitted waxed cotton skirt, and an ivory plaid scarf, this jacket felt like new.
What’s funny is the Cole Haan booties are quite old too – the classic wing tip style is also timeless, shoe life extended by routine maintenance at the cobbler…
Maybe you have a timeless piece hidden away in your closet? Not sure how to wear it? Tell me about it and I’ll share some ideas!

Haha, you gave me that jacket for awhile, I loved it, then gave it back!
I know! Haha!
Nice look for the office and great motivation to shop-your-closet. Also glad to see your blog again. I stopped receiving email notification of new posts about two weeks ago –maybe a tech issue? I’ll re-up for email notices again.
I have so many pieces that I’ve had for YEARS and still wear and love. People are always surprised when they ask about an item and I say, “I’ve had this for 15 years.” So glad to see you do the same thing! Love the entire outfit but especially the jacket:)
