Western Weekend Style

More fall shopping success – two bargains, and one splurge! All put together to style this casual outfit that would be just perfect in Nashville, where I hope to return to someday soon…
The skirt: I found this wool miniskirt a few weeks ago at Revolve; the brand is Intermix, the tags were still on it with a retail price of $250…at Revolve it was only $59! Yahoo! The waist seemed a bit loose when I tried it on, but that means it will be comfortable when I want to tuck in a shirt or even do a French tuck with a chunky turtleneck…

The plaid (and whole look) reminds me of Ralph Lauren western style, and I can envision styling it in many different ways – with a black turtleneck, with cream/beige sweaters, with a lace blouse, with tights, a wide belt, even with high heels…fun!

The jacket: There are so many various brands, styles, and colors of denim jackets, it may take you awhile to find the one (or two) that is right for for you…I have a dark wash denim by Hudson, but it doesn’t create the same look as a faded, vintage looking wash…after searching online I found two that I liked: one by Ralph Lauren for over $300, and one by Lucky Brand on sale for $55.99…can you guess which one this is? Yes, I went for the bargain (fooled you Peter!), it is Lucky Brand!
The style is called the Tomboy Trucker, in the Cumberland River color. Initially I ordered a size xtra small, but it was way too tight so I exchanged it for a small…it still does not have room to wear a heavy sweater underneath but I prefer a more fitted look…a lightweight sweater/turtleneck underneath will be fine..

The shirt: This is not a new purchase, but it’s a favorite…the brand is Frank and Eileen, found at Well Heeled in Stowe, Vermont about a year ago… this particular style is ‘Eileen’, the color is sand (warm beige)…

It’s hard to appreciate the quality of the fabric and details in these pics…the fit is relaxed, it’s a heavyweight cotton (they call it denim), and it’s deliberately wrinkled and distressed (but not too much)…a great basic for weekend wear!
The necklace: A leather and sterling choker, bought last year in Nashville in our hotel gift shop! Very ‘Ralph’, right???

The boots: Ok, here’s the splurge, or should I say, investment – Ralph Lauren boots! Here’s the true story: Peter dragged my ass up to the RL women’s department in Boston one recent Sunday…I was in a crappy pandemic mood and had no intention whatsoever to shop for myself (why shop, we have no place to go, blah, blah)…as soon as I saw these boots – KAZAAM! You glad you took me up there, Peter??? 😉

These classic boots will never go out of style and they will be great with long skirts, jeans, even shorts…perfect for weekend wear and equally nice with business casual attire…

But where was I going on this particular day? Out with my grandson for pizza. Yessiree – these days I look for any excuse to wear a cute outfit! 😉
Stay well. Dress well. Enjoy the NOW.

This outfit is so you! I just love it when you call a splurge an investment!! I’m going to try that with MY husband!!! Not exactly sure he’ll see it that way.
